Apple launches the new iTunes version 10
The all new iTunes 10 is a more user friendly application than its predecessors. With it comes a new concept dubbed ‘Ping’ which is a social tool to help you discover more music. This application works just like Facebook or Twitter only that in this case the users “follow” artists and friends to help them discover and share new music.
With iTunes 10 you will be able to see what your friends are listening to and the concerts they plan to attend. If you choose to “follow” artists or friends, the iTunes 10 will generate a list of the top 10 items that your friends are downloading and further, any upcoming concerts. This capability will help you inform your friends what concerts you will be attending or at least those you plan to attend. Ping will be available to over 160 million individuals and will also be accessible to the iPod touch and iPhone via the existing iTunes store.
In addition to Ping, iTunes 10 will also feature AirPlay. This is Apple’s revolutionary wireless media streaming application. This feature is set to provide video and photo streaming from devices running iOS 4.2 to Apple TV. It will also allow the user to send music and album information to third-party hardware such as AV receivers, speaker docks and stereo systems from companies such as Bowers & Wilkins and also Denon.
With AirPlay, the user can stream music to different devices in different rooms simultaneously via a PC or laptop running iTunes and which is also connected to a Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. As with the prior version of iTunes, the user can still select “multiple speakers” to stream media to the various components in multiple locations in the house. With the iTunes 10 the user can further control the volume of individual AirPlay systems via the free Remote application for iPod touch and iPhone.
The iTunes 10 also features a new and better interface and a new logo.
