iPod Nano 6th Generation

The new iPod nano can easily be confused for the iPod shuffle if not for its upfront touchscreen display. This sixth generation iPod is also quite small compared to its predecessor; its features include a 1.54 inch 240×240 multi-touch screen and the proprietary shuffle’s VoiceOver capability. These two features make it the most touch responsive PMP Apple has ever come up with. During its launch, Steve Jobs, Apple’s Chief, in his speech mentioned severally on how small the new iPod nano is and in actual fact this is true. This iPod can actually be engulfed in your palm!

The touchscreen of this sixth generation iPod nano is lustrous and intensely coloured bringing back the memories of the iOS the iPod touch boasted of. When playing music the entire screen shifts to display the album art of the particular piece it is playing. This iPod, however, does not have video playback support keys and it further does not have a camera unlike its predecessor, the fifth generation nano. The absence of the camera may in fact be an advantage as it allows this iPod to be smaller and to focus more on music playback.

The new iPod nano has some of its UI features borrowed from the iPod Touch and thus many will appreciate the operational familiarity it comes with; dragging the various icons around is pretty direct and easy enough for the occasional iPod user. Compared to the iPod Shuffle, its construction quality is high class despite its lesser weight.
With this iPod you have several accessibility options to choose from, for example, we have the clear white-on-black UI colour scheme. Another feature is the screen reader which uses the VoiceOver capability to read out the various functions.

This sixth generation iPod pre-order price for the 8GB is $149 while for the 16GB it is $179.
