Sony bringing the first implementation on Google TV

Sony is all set to introduce internet TVs based on Google TV. We’re almost at the end of September with no updates about the official launch of GTV. This is quite contrary to Intel’s CEO’s claim sometime ago and makes Eric Schmidt’s “Fall” time frame prediction quite accurate.

Sony has just sent out invitations for their Google TV launch on October 12th which is also being toted as the world’s first Internet TV. The event is set to kick off at 5:30pm. The Sony Internet TV will provide rich internet access so we can browse the web just like on a computer and seamlessly navigate between websites and TV channels or we can enjoy both at the same time on the same screen.

So now it’s no secret that this is the official unveiling of Google TV and it will be Sony that will give us the first implementation of Google’s Web-based video service integrating Google search and other Web-based elements right into the television.

With this Sony now has three different strategies for Internet-connected home entertainment devices with the first being the PlayStation Network, also known as Qriocity and the second being the Web-connected HDTVs that have Sony Bravia Internet Video Link over which one can access online content directly through their TV sets.
