Apple’s Conference Brief Round-up: MacBook Air, Mac OS X Lion, FaceTime and iLife updates
Whenever an Apple conference is announced, rumors start pouring all over the Internet on the events that will take place. Bloggers start making bets on new devices that are about to be revealed and all the readers start discussing on any new topic regarding these conferences.
Yesterday it was the big day, and we were there to bring you the latest on the Apple conference. Here’s what happened:

“La piece de resistance”: MacBook Air
Apple will start selling the new MacBook Air, a laptop that promises to revolutionize the computer’s world by introducing solid state flash storage, which will replace classical hard disks and thus allow a faster and better storage by eliminating the potential HDD crashes. Another major improvement is the replacement of optical drives with Internet based services, something that many people are looking forward at; the CD’s seem to be history.
By implementing these changes, Apple stated that MacBook Air will be almost a pound lighter and have a battery life of up to 7 hours when being used or up to 30 days when being on standby mode. MacBook Air is available immediately with either 11 or 13 inch displays, for a starting price of $999.00

A new operating system: Mac OS X Lion
Mac OS X Lion is the latest version of Apple’s operating system that promises to adapt some of the iPad features to regular computers. For example, Mac OS X Lion users will have the chance to get applications from the online Apple store, to update the ones they already use and to get new ones as they are listed on the site.
Plus, Steve Jobs promises that the new OS will allow an easier move from one application to the other. For example, you’ll be able to go from one application that runs on full screen to the other just by swiping your trackpad, a feature that probably most of the people will appreciate. Mac OS X Lion is expected to be released next summer.
FaceTime for everybody !
It seems that the FaceTime application will be implemented on all of the Mac computers, which means that from now on even laptop users will be able to make video calls to iPhone / iPod users. And the best thing about it is that this feature is available immediately. Any Mac owner can have it, as it will soon be available on the Apple’s website as a free download. It seems that Skype has some serious competition, let’s see how they will react.
New improvements for iLife
During this conference, Apple also announced that it will bring some further improvements to iLife, making it more attractive for users by implementing new facilities and functions.
