Android is Gaining Advantage in the Mobile OS Race
Android fans have on more reason to be happy: the new reports over 2010 and the first month of 2011 are showing that iOS is in the top far behind the operating system evolved by Google.
While people are still waiting for Android 3.0, the experts published the statistics for 2010. This is how we can see that Android tablets have went up to 22% market share in the Q4 of 2010, while in the Q3, the climbing was of only 2.3%. The top of the tablets sales was the Galaxy Tab. Apple sold only 7,3 millions of iPads in the entire period of the year, from which 96% in Q3, while Samsung has sold 2 million Galaxy Tabs in Q4 2010.
Android is conquering the market not only with the tablets. Reports are also saying that the top smartphone platform in Q4 2010 is this one. Android sold in Q4 of 2010 more than 33.3 million devices, while Symbian only 31 millions. On the 3rd position we can find Apple’s iPhones, which sold only 16.2 million units. The 4th position is occupied by RIM, with 14.6 millions and the 5th by Microsoft with 3.1 million devices shipped.
Android has been the choice of many top producers, such as Acer, LG, Samsung or HTC. For this year Nokia announced that they decided to leave behind the strategy from the above year and to stop trying to transform Symbian in something like Android or iOS.
