iOS 4.3 Jailbreak: GM Version Cracked Open Already
Although passed only 3 days since iPad 2 have been released, a jailbreak for its iOS 4.3 is already available. The tool known as PwnageTool is able to jailbreak successfully the GM version of the newest Apple’s operating system. This seems like a full jailbreak will be imminent available.
Maybe most of you are familiar with this PwnageTool, so, you probably figured out that I am talking about its latest version, 4.2.
To be able to jailbreak iOS 4.2 you will need some things:
- iOS 4.3 GM, which can be downloaded from here.
- The latest version of iTunes 10.2 installed, which can be downloaded from here.
- PwnageTool bundle that you can download from here.
- and, of course, PwnageTool 4.2 that you can download fom here.
After you got all the necessary stuffs to jailbreak your iOS 4.3 GM, you will still need some certain things, such as access to iOS 4.3 GM firmware, Mac OS X, Universal Ramdisk Fixer and a tetheredboot utility.
These tool can be used to jailbreak the newly released iOS 4.2.1 GM on both iPad and iPod 4 with working Cydia.
So, to jailbreak the iOS 4.2 GM from your iPad 2 or your iPad 4, do the next steps:
- Step 1: Extract the .zip folder of the PwnageTool bundle. Search for the .bundle file which is good for your device. Move it to your desktop.
- Step 2: Copy the PwnageTool 4.2 into the /Applications directory. Press the right click of your mouse and then choose “Show Pages Content”.
- Step 3: Go to Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/. Paste the .bundle file that ou have on our desktop.
- Step 4: To create a custom ramdisk, simply install the Universal Ramdisk Maker tool. The Ramdisk tool from PwnageTool is currently not working so this one will do the job for it.
- Step 6: Move the iOS 4.3 GM firmware to your desktop.
- Step 7: Start PwnageTool using the Expert Mode. Select your device.
- Step 8: Browse for iOS 4.3 GM firmware for your used device.
- Step 9: Select “Build”.
- Step 10: Once your custom firmware is created, quit PwnageTool.
- Step 11: Start iTunes. Press and hold the left ALT from your Mac. Now click the Restore button from the iTunes and release the ALT button. Select the required custom .ipsw file that you created above, and click on “Open”.
- Step 12: Wait until iTunes does its job. When it will finish, your iOS 4.3 will be jailbreak.
